Purple-flowered poodle-dog bush, growing in burn areas, is hazard to humans.
The purple flower looks brilliant, but contains an irritant similar to poison oak. First aid for contacting this is the same, but avoidance is the best policy.
I noticed this article in the OC Register today and thought it was worth posting an advisory to campers and hikers planning outings in or near the fire charred areas of Southern California, especially Santiago Canyon and the San Bernardino Mountains.
