The Basic Cub Ldr training takes roughly a morning to complete.
Years ago, I was fortunate enough to be on the staff of a team of volunteers that felt that taking a couple more hours to expose new adult leaders to a "hands on" pack meeting would be helpful. so they developed a short 20 minute meeting that was presented following a break for lunch. The brief "pack meeting" had all the important aspects of a regular meeting with announcements, awards and a game, but it had one thing that I felt the Basic Training of today is missing.
It provided a chance for the participants of the meeting to actually take an active part in the meeting and see how a pack meeting is done. Even though it was a brief meeting, those who attended came away with a good idea of what a pack meeting is all about.
I'm confident that over the years the individuals who were involved in this "extra mile" training event, were much better leaders and had a lot more fun in the program. All because a few went that extra mile.
