Deer flies in San Gabriels
We were planning to have our annual planning conference at Sturdevant camp in Big Santa Anita canyon, but they are closed in June due to deer flies.
Are deer flies a significant problem throughout the San Gabriels this time of year?
Our alternative plan is Cooper Canyon trail camp, but if the deer flies are that bad, we may choose somewhere else.

I'd suggest, that for the most current information on the San Gabriel mountain area, that you check with the following; http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/angeles/
They contain some information on their web site, as well as a contact list so they may be called on the phone.
There are other Internet sites as well, but not all are up-to-date.
